What is Aimhigher?

The Aimhigher project works nationally with young people from the age of 14 who may not be fulfilling their academic potential for a range of reasons.

Class of secondary school students

The Aimhigher Kent and Medway Partnership works with universities, further education colleges, schools and other organisations to support young people in raising their educational aspiration and achievement. The aim is to increase awareness of higher education opportunities and benefits amongst young people and their families by providing information, activities and opportunities to motivate and inspire.

How can businesses help us?

It is important that young people emerge from their education properly trained to be useful members of the workforce and do not miss out on the chance to go to university.

Enterprise needs to be involved in that process. Business people are already working with the Aimhigher Kent and Medway Partnership in many ways; for example, through mentoring or inspirational talks. For the past three years businesses have sponsored our ‘Inspire to Aimhigher’ Art Competition.

You may be involved already or may feel you can participate in some way. If you would like to talk to someone about this, please contact: Linda Bishopp, Communications Manager, on 01227 782566 or e-mail her at linda.bishopp@canterbury.ac.uk
