Press Interviews

If asked to give an interview with the press, TV or radio:

The press can sometimes telephone unexpectedly and ask for an immediate interview or at very short notice. Below are some questions you can ask them to give you time to breathe.

• If they say they wish to interview you immediately then ask for 30 minutes

• Ask them what topic they will be covering and what kind of questions they will be asking

• Ask how much detail they will require

• Get them to define the angle they will be coming from

• Ask who else will be interviewed

• And finally, ask when, where and how (i.e. over the phone, face to face) they wish to interview you
