Aimhigher Associates Scheme
Aimhigher Associates is a new government-funded scheme designed to promote progression by learners from state schools to the full range of higher education (HE) provision on offer

Aimhigher is already working with target schools, colleges and training providers to access these young people and give them a programme of activities and interventions to help them achieve this. The Aimhigher Associates scheme is an additional - and high impact - project to further support the overall Aimhigher programme.
The Associate scheme involves identifying suitable students in HE Institutions to act as mentors or ‘Associates’ who forge relationships with learners from years 9 to 13 in participating schools and colleges. Aimhigher Associates receive training and schools support them to carry out this important role. The Aimhigher Associates scheme fits in with and complements the Aimhigher programme already being delivered to all Aimhigher learners.
Aimhigher Kent and Medway (AHKM) partnership took part in the ‘pathfinder ‘, or pilot, Aimhigher Associates scheme. This scheme is being mainstreamed from 2009 onwards and rolled out nationally. The AHKM partnership is in a great position to take advantage of this scheme, which will further support the core programme already in place. It is anticipated that the Aimhigher Associates scheme will provide further exciting opportunities to raise aspirations and support young people with the potential to benefit from HE.
